The Trip

This would be an acceptable ski day.  The weather was closing in fast, so we decided to ski off the ridge.  As we headed that direction, the clouds thickened.  The mountain is tall enough to cause its own weather.  We passed some interesting chalets on the trail.

The Photos

The shots below are reduced from the output size of the digital camera to 700 pixels wide.

The Matterhorn in the clouds.

Some kind of aqueduct control station.

Bob, Lois and Kathleen.

A lift house for some kind of tunnel entrance way up the opposite side of the canyon.

Some kind of control structure further down the canyon.

A group of chalets off the side of the trail.

This is a barn.

Flat rocks under the posts are rodent deterrents.  Cattle feed is stored in the shacks.

Chalet on the side of the trail.

It was an acceptable day of skiing.  While I think that for just skiing, the U.S. is better.  But for overall ambiance, Zermatt is way better.   The weather added an edgy tough to the place.  The forecast is for snow.
