Background
The
Southern California Unimog community has been holding yearly
gatherings for over 20 years. These gatherings have
been held at a variety of locations ranging from the high Sierra mountains to
the low desert near the Salton Sea. This year, for variety, the
location was in the Mojave Desert near Barstow, CA.
The chosen campsite was at the San Bernadino County Park
at the Calico
Ghost
Town. We
were in Thor (our
Mercedes 1017A
truck) that
has 4-season
living quarters
so we were
comfortable.
This
year's
gathering was
an overwhelming
sucucess.
To my
knowledge, other
than normal
mechanical
issues like
leaking fuel
lines, etc.
there was no
vehicle damage
nor
any injuries.

event. These photos were taken with my brand-new Sony
A7R4 60MP digital camera.
Conclusions
Coordinating a large
number of participants in an event such as this is quite a
challenge. Many thanks to Joe, Alan and the other
individuals that organized this gathering and put the
thought-work into selecting a nice venue.
