Background
COVID has put a big cramp in our travel plans. After a year of
sitting on our asses and doing nothing (but house chores),
we elected to head out. Once both Kathleen and I got
vaccinated, we made plans
to roll in Thor
(our 4x4
camper) east
across the
U.S. to visit
friends and
family.
Our
penultimate
objective is
to visit
Kathleen's
mother in Long
Island, NY,
but return via
a northern
route near the
Great
Lakes and
Canadian
Border.
Like most
trips east,
our first stop
was Tucson, AZ
to visit
family and
then head east
across southern
Arizona into
New Mexico,
Texas and the
central
U.S.
Path
Our path for this trip is shown in the map below as logged by
our SPOT transmitter. Approximately 9300 miles were
traversed during our travels.
Details
The link
table below contains links to the photos and dialog for each
of the days of the trip. This table will be updated as
the effort progresses. A variety of cameras were used to
document this trip including our Sony A1, Fuji XT-4. and Fuji
X100V.

Conclusions
Every time we come
back from a cross-country trip, I am stunned by the size and
diversity of America. We passed through many climate and
geographic zones, each with its own personality. We met
old friends and made new ones and had some great
experiences. Thor was finally able, after many tries, to
get a new paint job and it looks great. Thanks to Rob
and Antonio for their efforts on our behalf. We had a
great time, but it is good to be home.
