A massive lightning bolt splits the skies as a
heavy rainstorm approaches the hills above our campsite at

Background
With COVID in the rear-view mirror, plans were
launched to hold another installment of MogFest at the Calico
Ghost Town near Barstow, CA. Moggers
and friends
assembled in
the campground
for several
days of
4-wheeling fun
in the Calico
Mountains near
the Ghost
Town.
The group had
used this
campground in
past years and
no real issues
were
encountered
other than
noisy
neighbors and
high desert
winds. This
year was a
somewhat
different
story,
however.
Details
The link
table below contains links to the photos and dialog for each
of the days of the trip. A variety of cameras were used
to document this trip including our Sony A1, Sony A7R4 and the
ubiquitous iPhone.
Conclusions
The desert can be a
dangerous place with many hazards, including some that are
hidden. Camping in watercourses, while convenient and
usually the most level place, is always a dicey thing, even
when the weather forecast calls for clear skies.
Fortunately with our group, only casual damage occurred.
Others were not so lucky.
Many thanks to Joe and Tammy for hosting this year's
event. Much effort was expended making the pieces come
together and assembling the masses.
