The Trip

Moab is always a blast.  We had a great time.  Gladly, the trip home was uneventful, although long  The return path took us through Monument Valley.

The Photos

The shots below are reduced from the output size of the digital camera to 700 pixels wide.

Fellow campers disassemble "Mog Central" in the Slickrock Campground.

One of the odder 404 fire trucks I have seen.

One of the monuments in the valley.

Every rock in Monument Valley has a name of some kind, but I did not see a sign for this one.

Name unknown.

1300L trailering minimog and 419 with standard unimog trailer.

Kathleen with monument.

Some unremembered gas and fuel stop to the west of Kingman, AZ.

The trip home was uneventful; some of the best trips are.  From Moab, UT to San Diego is a beefy drive that usually takes at least a day and a half.  At least at mog speed.  One forgets about the immensity of the American west until you actually have to drive the length or width of a state.  In this case, we drove the width of California, the width of Arizona, the height of Arizona and 2/3 the height of Utah.  No matter how you express it, it is a long drive.  On portions of the drive, in Utah in particular, the views are commanding.  On other portions, such as around Needles, CA, it vast, but boring.  But still a great experience.
