The 1300L on the White Rim Trail

A Slickrock Adventure

Moab, UT is the center of the fourwheeling universe.  It is scenic and rugged in a way that is indescribable.  We have been there a number of times and depending on the weather, it is a great time.  The locals are "wheeling friendly" and are sensitive to the needs of the four wheeling public.  There are tons of trails and they range from a dirt road to "four plus" sphincter-tightening trails like the Moab Rim. The site "4x4 Now" had a great map and description of these trails.  There are also links to reservations in Moab as well as a services guide.

The Trip

Our trip to Moab was a full week.  The trip from San Diego takes a day and a half, under good conditions.  Under bad conditions, much, much more.

Traveler's Advice

Planning ahead always helps.  Generally speaking, Moab is close to nothing.  Therefore, a big road trip will be in your future if you decide to go.  Should you go there when there is an "event", you need to reserve hotels and resturants as there is limited capacity.  Even the campgrounds get full.  But, in a pinch, you can camp on the slickrock assuming you don't mind no amenities of any kind.
